Because I said so...

When I started teaching I truly had no idea what I was doing. I knew that I needed to make sure no children got hurt. I knew they all needed to get home at the end of the day. I knew that they should leave at the end of the year with more than what they arrived with. All of the children should have learned something. Here's what I didn't know. I didn't know how to control them. I didn't know how to "get" them under my spell...and I didn't know how to LIKE some of them. My standard line used to be..."Because I said so." Oh gosh I sounded like their mother not their teacher; their partner in learning. How much more could I have accomplished if I had just told them why? Why it was important. Why it was something they wold use. Why I thought they needed it.
YIKES! I had so much to learn and so much to change about myself.
So that is the reason why I started this BLOG...well also because I needed a final project for my curriculum class. What do I think needs to be changed? How can I be a part of that change?

What I hope? That this will be a place where I can share what I've learned to do..and what not to do. So...here we go!
